Shine a Little Light on Me: LED Light Therapy for Facial Rejuvenation

I have been slowly ramping up my obsession for photon led light therapy and it’s basically at full throttle now.

The device I’m most obsessed about has red, yellow, and blue light options or a combo of these PLUS infrared. It can be used on the face or wrapped around most body parts to facilitate healing. I mostly use it in conjunction with facial acupuncture and microneedling because it can supercharge the results for skin rejuvenation. And, I looooooove efficiency.

Let’s break down what this light device is doing:

First a mini science lesson. . .

Light therapy is measured by a spectrophotometer in nanometers (nm) which is basically the wavelength that determines the color. Each color of light has a different wavelength and each wavelength does different cool things to the body. Also, LED stands for “light-emitting diodes” which is pretty cute.

Red light: (640nm) is amazing for improving skin elasticity and circulation which promotes collagen and elastin production. The more collagen and elastin you have, the fewer fine lines and wrinkles will be visible on the skin. So, this is a big YAY for supporting graceful aging along with scar healing, sun damage repair and reducing inflammation.

Yellow light: (583nm) is the best for stimulating lymphatic drainage and increasing circulation. Big fan of both of those.

Blue light: (423nm): is the acne obliterator. The blue light wavelength helps kill acne causing bacteria AND when combined with the red light can stimulate cell regeneration to help the skin heal from the acne (this part is especially helpful to my fellow ‘pickers’ out there).

Infrared light: (690nm) is the wavelength that penetrates most deeply into the skin tissue and can gently warm the body from within which is incredible for overall circulation (the foundation of healing, pain relief, and detoxification)!

Ideal ‘dosage’ of light therapy is 20 minutes at least once per week for 12 sessions. Protective goggles are provided! Clients who are pregnant, have epilepsy or taking medications known to cause photosensitivity should consult with their doctor prior to using LED light therapy.
