Collaboration Over Competition

We live in a capitalistic society that values competition, preaches scarcity, and brainwashes us that there can only be one true winner at the top. Many of us are actively killing ourselves trying to achieve success and it shows in our death statistics: heart disease, diabetes, and death by suicide are all listed amongst the leading causes of death in the United States.

Thankfully, many of us are starting to wake up and realize that this narrative is false and damaging. More and more wellness practitioners are understanding that their patients are set up to lose under this structure of competition and divisiveness. There is a new opportunity emerging to “win” collectively.

One example of this is the Austin Wellness Collaborative (AWC) started by Ashley Maltz, MD. It brings practitioners off all types who are passionate about collaborating together to maximize effective client care. Another example, is the wellness center that Illumma is creating through bringing practitioners (like ME) and Samantha Thiry with Happy Body ATX into their space. Together, we are able to seamlessly support our patients with varying modalities and customize care to best meet each individual’s unique needs.

AWC asked me and the amazing co-founder of Illumma, Alli Waddell, to speak about our collaboration mindset while giving a tour of our gorgeous offices. Some reoccurring themes you will hear from us are: fostering an abundance mindset, women supporting women, the importance of collaboration over competition and how dang important it is to never take wellness work too seriously.

Enjoy our chaotic beauty and wellness-ish talk.

xo,

Jenna
